It’s gonna be a short one today, but an update with lots of tasty foods! I promise!
Let’s start with the breakfast. Switching it up this time!
Mr. Parfait
Has peach yogurt, layered in between are frozen blueberries, frozen strawberries, pineapples, and kix cereal!

I also had a chocolate coconut chew Larabar that was…hmmm. Quite tasty. I’m glad this isn’t overwhelmingly coconutty nor is it too chocolately. As nutty as usual with the little pieces of walnuts but definitely a tad dry for me!

It hit the spot!

Lazy Woman’s Lunch
All you need is a microwave! In the bowl is some homemade spinach, tomato, blackbean, carrot, corn soup topped with two braised eggs and daikon radish.
The first time I’ve ever tried Sabra hummus!!!
Here is the Red Pepper Sabra that I ate with 2 servings of Dr. Kracker crackers!
This is SUCH a highly hyped hummus I knew I HAD to give it a try, but truth be told, YES it’s definitely “creamier” and smoother than say, TJ’s or Cedar, but if you look at the ingredient list, you’ll know that it’s because Sabra puts more TAHINI into their mixture.
My verdict? It’s tasty and I love how smooth it is, but I wish there was more red pepper flavor!

Two servings of these “Hummus maximus” crackers was perfect. They were SO crunchy and very flavorful with my hummus!

And then I had a pack of Sea Salt & vinegar Pop Chips, which is UNIMPRESSIVE. So please don’t buy this if you’ve never tried Popchips. It could ruin their brand. hahaha

Korean BBBBBBBBBQ!!
Dinner was at my favorite Korean BBQ restaurant in Chicago – San Soo Gab San.
DANG these ladies know how to run a business. As soon as the bf and I sit down, our table is literally COVERED in these little appetizer plates. This is my favorite part of Korean bbq. The complimentary dishes!!!

I ordered the spicy baby octopus to grill, and the boyfriend got kalbi (bbq short ribs). Everything comes with a bowl of rice of course!

Here we are grilling away. I love the part when I get to grill! It’s so much fun to play with food legitimately.

We also ordered a bibimbap, which is a traditional korean dish with rice on the bottom, beef, an array of veggies, and an egg all mixed together with hot sauce.
This is pre-mixing when it was still beautiful.

As if we didn’t get enough food, dinner comes with a complimentary bowl of miso soup for each patron.

Needless to say, I ate this last but somehow found room in my bottomless pit of a stomach to finish it too!
My RATINGS:
Overall: 4.5/5 You can’t find a tastier Korean BBQ in the area!
Taste: 4/5
Originality: 3.5/5
Plating: 3.5/5
Value: 4.5 /5 Did you see how many of those complimentary appetizers plates we got?!
Service: 3/5 Hmm the ladies who work here have been known to be crabby sometimes, so beware!
Man, how I love playing with my food…Korean BBQ is just too much fun.

SUE!!!!
“okay, now i feel like the last asian person who hasn’t tried red mango! boston realllly needs to get on that! i love that you stood in line again!
and reasons i read luckytastebuds..umm…because you’re the bestest?! you’re real, and honest, and eat such delicious foods. even more than the gazillions of new products you try and review, i really love seeing your creations in the kitchen (especially the baking!) and the joint dinners that you and your bf make…seeing familiar asian food doesn’t hurt either. and lastly, i’d be lying if i didn’t enjoy your many many giveaways
“
Thanks for all your kind and oh-so-personal words my dear! I’ll be emailing you to get your mailing address!!

Hey there Lucky Taste Buds!
I’m heading back to Chicago with my boss and colleagues next week and was wondering if you can recommend any hip restaurants w/ interesting food. They would most likely prefer lighter cuisine (Pan-Asian, French, etc) over things like a steakhouse, stuff pizza, pasta, or any number of the chain places in downtown. I hope this isn’t too imposing of a request.
And thank you for reminding me about Bongo Room. I went with the bro and mom for breakfast. and everyone loved it!
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, I want to try those Dr. Kracker crackers!!!!!!!!! And dude, hummus power!
I want to try Korean BBQ! I am one day going to Chicago and eating with you!!!!! Hahaha!!!
I loveee frozen fruit & yogurt together, best combo ever! Yum, I have never been for Korean BBQ. I wonder if there would be many options for vegetarian? It looks good though!
OMGGG I loveeeeee Korean BBQ!! I’m soo jealous!!!
sounds delish! I HATE That popchips flav too, it’s so gross..and i love sabra soo much, but i’d rather pay a little less for the TJ’s organic hummus, it’s still really good! Omg i got my granola too! I LOVE IT
thanks so much girlie

I love the chocolate coconut chew larabar.. delicious!
Korean BBQ seems fabulous.
I have got to find a Korean BBQ place around here to try. That looks like so much fun.
I have never tried that Larabar! Hmmmmm!?! Looks great! Oh and so does the Korean BBQ!
Lazy Woman’s Lunch looks great to me!
I love the Kix in your parfait! Great touch!!
That pic of all the little appetizer plates is AMAZING! If I sat down to be greeted by that, I’d probably kiss the little Korean ladies!
When I was younger, we took a family vacation and ate at a Korean bbq place. I remember my brother and I being fascinated watching my dad cook our food right at our table and put it on our plates!
the grill looks so fun!
I don’t know if it’s cause I’m korean but I’m really sick of Korean BBQ right now. haha
I agree, the salt & vinegar pop chips are not that exciting at all!!! I loveeee the bbq flavor though!
And yum, that microwavable lunch w/ the crackers and hummus sounds so easy and comforting!! Love meals like those!
I’ve actually never tried Korean BBQ but when I was in school they would sell it on campus and it always smelled so GOOD!
Hummus maximus..hehe..you’re too cute
woooooo…….. I crave bibimbap right now!!!! That’s my favorite korean dish!!! Well, I actually like all their appetizers… I could just eat that and go home!!!
I wish I had some korean woman to cook for me and to have so many varieties of food (veggies) in one meal~
Sometimes it’s nice to have a lunch where all you need is a microwave : )
that is a ton of banchan at that korean place. A+
I’ve only been to a Korean bbq place once. Needless to say, my non-Asian friends knew more than I did about how everything worked, I mispronounced everything on the menu, and the waiter tried unsuccessfully to speak to me in Korean. It was delish, though!

Love the parfait. Your lunch sure doesn’t look lazy – it looks great!
I love that there is a cracker called “hummus maximus” – I can’t think of anything more perfect sounding than that
I totally didn’t make that connection about the tahini and Sabra, but I do love it! I wish it wasn’t quite as expensive. I need to try TJ’s brand!
I will definitely stay clear of that Pop Chips flavor!
I’ve never had Korean BBQ before, but it looks delicious!
Yummy parfait! I have never been to a Korean place before and looking at the pictures really need to try it some day! So many complimentary dishes!
