Joy Yees Noodles Chinatown

Always big portions and always fast service! I love trying new things on the menu, because there IS so much to choose from!

Recommendations: Taro bubble smoothie, Anything in a stone bowl!

Stone Bowl Soft Shell Crab Curry

Thoughts: The curry sauce is lumpy but absolutely delicious over rice. The soft-shell crab came in its entirety and was fried crisp on the outside but soft and creamy on the inside. There was a dearth of sauce, which made the mound of plain rice they served up at the bottom of the piping stone-bowl seem like too much!

Vietnamese Chicken lettuce wraps

Thoughts: Lots of fresh vegetables on this plate, including many sprigs of basil. The stir-fried chicken was well seasoned with garlic and peanuts and went perfectly inside the wraps. Heck, they’re delicious just by themselves! My favorite is the marinated pickled vegetables that are sweet, sour, and flavorful all at once! So good!

Korean Spicy seafood soup

Thoughts: The super-red broth was not as spicy as it looks, and was instead so flavorful and fragrant! The bottom of the bowl was full of big oysters and six big shrimp floated at the top. My favorite part was dumping the rice in the soup to make it sop up all the sauces and eating it with bites of tofu, oysters, and onion bits! Yum!

Taro Tapioca Freeze

YUMMY!! This drink is just…too good. Cold, sweet, perfectly chewy boba! Great to share between two, especially if you’ve had a giant meal alongside this yummy drink.

Overall: 3.5/5
Taste: 4/5 (Always hits the spot!)
Plating: 3.5/5 (With the big portions, stone bowls, and pineapple boats, many dishes are fun to look at AND to eat…depending on what you order of course!)
Originality: 4/5 (They’re so innovative with their dishes you can always find something you’ve never heard of or tried on the menu…unless you’ve been there too many times!)
Value: 3.5/5 (Giant portions on most dishes may mean leftovers…but not for me)
Service: 3.5/5 (Fast service all the time! And they’ve never messed up my order…sometimes waiters can be impatient in their hurry to keep things going)
