Amazing Grass Says,“Amazing Grass is field grown through winter and harvested just once a year. Other grasses are grown in warm climates and cut 7 or more times a year, which results in decreased nutrients.
Why is Amazing Grass different? Because it is grown in THE BEST soil for growing cereal grasses. Just as oranges grow best in Florida and California, cereal grasses grow best in the Midwest.
Amazing Grass is certified organic and we don’t use herbicides or pesticides. Our belief of putting back more into the soil than we take out ensures the most nutrient-rich cereal grasses you can get. Amazing Grass includes organic (red hard winter) wheat grass, organic barley grass, organic alfalfa, organic oat grass and organic rye grass.”

Chocolate Whole Food Energy Bar
Stats (1 bar): 230 Cals, 9g fat, 37g carbs, 27g sugar, 4g fiber, 5g protein
Flavor: Wow. This was like eating a “naughty” chocolate bar that you KNOW has wholesome and good for you ingredients in it. The ultra thin dark chocolate shell melts on your fingers and is a FANTASTIC complement to the bar filling that is mainly made up of dates and agave nectar. However, it is definitely really sweet and toward the end of the bar, it was just too much!
Texture: Wow again. The chocolate is smooth, thin, and melts at body temperature. The inside of the bar is moist, soft, a little chewy, and easy to break off in pieces. There are tiny pieces of nuts in it, with some recognizable ones such as sunflower seeds all intermixed into the fibrous dried date base. Fabulous!
Overall: 8/10. Although the ingredient list seems daunting, a closer look at it reveals a rather “down-to-earth” composition. The flavor is wonderful and I would eat this bar in replacement of a chocolate bar, but it is definitely way too sweet! If the protein count can be bumped up a little and the sugar bumped down, this would be a perfect 10.🙂

Amazing Grass SuperFood Energy Bar- Original
Stats: 230 Calories, 8g fat, 4g fiber, 5g protein, 25g sugar, 36g carbs
Taste: Only a tad sweet, and very very earthy in flavor. I can’t say I love the flavor and texture of the grass in bar form, but luckily the date flavor also resonates in your mouth if your focus! The nuts don’t add too much in terms of flavor because they’re so small (and there’s such a wide variety of them) apart from a textural element.
Texture: It reminds me of a more fibrous and less-moist Larabar. Meaning, it’s a dark densely-packed bar from the dates, that is a little crumbly and filled with small pieces of nuts embedded throughout the entire bar.
Overall: 6/10. Opt for the chocolate flavored energy bar if you enjoy something that tastes more indulgent for the same nutritional stats. If you like your bars earthy-tasting, you’d enjoy this one…I personally won’t be buying it again considering I tossed part of it.
