They come in these flavors:

  • Original
  • Low Sodium
  • Chocolate

Michelle says, I would use the low sodium in recipes because there is definitely a strange aftertaste to the regular flavor. I do not recommend the chocolate flavor at all! Sorry but it just doesn’t taste like pb NOR chocolate!

If you’re looking for the lowest calorie, most natural tasting PB ever, go for powdered PB like PB2. But don’t expect any of these alternatives to taste like the “REAL” deal.

Low Sodium

They say, “Low Sodium Better ‘n Peanut Butter has the same great taste as the original, but Low Sodium Better ‘n Peanut Butter has just 95 mgs. of Sodium per serving. So if you’re concerned that eating that regular peanut butter might be adding to your high blood pressure, try our delicious alternative Better ‘n Peanut Butter.”

Better 'n Peanut Butter Low Sodium

First Impression: I was impressed by the waft of peanut buttery smells as soon as I popped open the lid, and check this out, there was PB stuck to the lid just like real PB!

Taste: The initial burst of peanut butter flavor definitely reminded me of real peanut butter, but the aftertaste was difficult to enjoy. It definitely screamed “phony peanut butter” to me because of its unnatural over-sweetness and a lingering…can’t-put-your-finger-on-it factor.

Texture: It’s definitely got the sticky factor, but not the goop that sticks to the roof of your mouth. I would describe it as creamy, and easily diluted to something more watery by liquids that it encounters (such as from an apple’s natural juices).

Overall: If you can get past the aftertaste, this is a good replacement for the regular peanut butter for a lower calorie option. However, I couldn’t get past the artificially sweet flavor and think it would be best to use this in recipes such as peanut dipping sauces or salad dressings!

They say, “Better ‘n Peanut Butter Chocolate is the newest all-natural product from Wonder Natural Foods. It’s unique blend of chocolate and peanut butter can be used in all the ways that you now use regular peanut butter. Instead of 16 grams of fat per (32 gram) serving, Better ‘n Peanut Butter delivers less than 3 grams of fat per serving and qualifies as a low fat food by USFDA standards. Better’n Peanut Butter Chocolate is rich and creamy with a great chocolate flavor and has 85% less fat and 40% fewer calories than regular peanut butter. It’s the only low fat, low calorie, diet chocolate spread of it’s kind and it’s really delicious.”

Chocolate Better 'n Peanut Butter

First Impression: Scared. I didn’t smell chocolate, and I didn’t smell peanut butter.

Taste: Fears were confirmed. I didn’t taste any cocoa and perhaps if I try hard I can identify some peanut flavor, but all I could taste was sultry, over-the-top sweetness that clearly does not come from something natural.

Texture: It reminded me of a dark thick chocolate-like sauce that has a thinner consistency than regular peanut butter.

Overall: Honestly, I didn’t enjoy this flavor one bit and will probably never open the jar of it again.
